INNOVATION HUB

Accelerating Circular, Climate Resilient Water Infrastructure

A New Era of Global Water Innovation

The Enviro Control UK Innovation Hub is a UK based global platform for piloting, validating, and scaling next generation water and wastewater solutions. Designed to support both the UK and international markets in the transition toward circular, climate resilient systems, the Hub brings together advanced engineering, real world operational experience, and collaborative research to address the most urgent challenges facing water utilities and industries worldwide.

WHY THE INNOVATION HUB

Addressing the UK’s and the World’s Most Pressing Water Challenges

Climate pressures, ageing assets, water scarcity, tightening regulatory expectations, and the rapid expansion of water intensive digital infrastructure have created a need for system level transformation across the UK and globally. Incremental improvements alone are no longer enough. Water systems now require solutions that are modular, scalable, low carbon, and future ready.

The Innovation Hub exists to accelerate this shift by connecting proven global technologies with the UK’s innovation ecosystem while simultaneously serving as a bridge for international collaboration. It is a platform for co‑designing solutions, demonstrating impact at pilot scale, and enabling deployment across both UK and global water markets.

WHAT THE HUB OFFER

1. Technology Pilots and Demonstration Sites

The Innovation Hub partners with utilities and site owners in the UK and internationally that can host real world testing or demonstration locations. Enviro Control provides complete design, engineering, and procurement capabilities to develop, deliver, and operate pilot solutions to a high technical standard.

Where appropriate, Enviro Control can also contribute to project funding, reducing financial risk and enabling faster deployment. This collaborative model allows utilities around the world to trial advanced treatment, reuse, and optimisation technologies on their own assets, generating performance insights and operational confidence before scaling.

2. Collaborative R&D and Cocreation

The Hub supports joint innovation projects with utilities, universities, industry partners, and global research institutions. Partners can define challenges, develop prototype solutions, and rapidly validate them through controlled testing and live field deployments in the UK or abroad.

3. Rapid Scaling and Deployment

Proven solutions can be commercialised and scaled using Enviro Control’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities, including UK based production for global delivery. This enables faster rollout and greater flexibility for utilities adopting new technologies anywhere in the world.

4. Training and Knowledge Exchange

With decades of operational experience across large‑scale water, wastewater, reuse, and advanced membrane systems, the Innovation Hub acts as a global centre for knowledge transfer. It offers structured training, technical workshops, operator upskilling, and immersive visits for partners in the UK and internationally.

CORE INNOVATION AREAS

Water Reuse and Recycling

The Hub advances high quality nonpotable reuse solutions for industrial applications, district cooling, and resilience planning. These systems reduce pressure on drinking water resources and create new revenue pathways for utilities globally.

PFAS Removal and Advanced Water Treatment

The Innovation Hub advances state-of-the-art ceramic membrane systems capable of removing long chain PFAS and drives research into short chain PFAS treatment. A major priority is developing cost efficient PFAS destruction technologies that permanently eliminate contaminants. The Hub also focuses on low chemical, high quality treatment methods aligned with UK and international regulatory expectations and long term public health protection.

Upgrading Ageing Infrastructure

The Hub demonstrates how existing works can be upgraded to achieve higher performance using lower energy and smaller footprints. This includes integrated fixed film systems, biological nutrient removal, process intensification, and smart automation — solutions relevant to both UK and global utility networks.

Digital Optimisation and Smart Operations

Through AI-enabled monitoring, digital twins, and real time optimisation, the Hub introduces digital transformation to water operations worldwide, reducing energy use, improving reliability, and enabling predictive maintenance.

Energy Positive Wastewater Treatment

The Hub explores solutions that convert wastewater into a resource, including anaerobic digestion, biogastopower systems, and integrated sludge to energy processes that support utilities in the UK and globally in progressing toward Net Zero.

STRATEGIC RELEVANCE FOR
THE UK AND GLOBAL WATER SECTOR

Supporting National and International Priorities

The Innovation Hub aligns with key themes in the UK and global water sectors, including:

  • Resilience and drought mitigation
  • Nutrient neutrality and environmental protection
  • Circular economy and resource recovery
  • Digital transformation and data‑driven operations
  • Net Zero and low‑carbon treatment technologies

Meeting the Needs of a Growing Digital Economy

As data centres, AI facilities, and advanced manufacturing drive significant increases in water demand across regions globally, the Hub supports the development of reliable, climate‑safe water supplies through reuse and specialised treatment systems.

A Bridge Between Global Expertise and UK Innovation

Enviro Control’s operational heritage, international experience, and commitment to technology development form the foundation of the Innovation Hub. By integrating global best practice with UK‑based research, partnerships, and manufacturing, the Hub strengthens the UK’s position as a global leader in transformative water solutions.

PARTNER WITH US

The Innovation Hub is open to collaboration with water utilities, regulators, universities, technology providers, and industrial end‑users in the UK and worldwide.
